 Vuvuzela at the World Cup
Im not really that much into the football and whatnot but I noticed there has been some problem with these "vuvuzela" instruments that South Africans have been using. Apparently they are too loud and are putting the players off and making it hard for them to concentrate and a few other problems. Here is a small news report : http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-cup/ ... -22334131/This is a quote from the vuvuzela wiki I'm not sure about banning them but I think a good idea would be to limit the number of them in the stadium. Then it would give other supporters a chance to sing their chants etc, the players would benefit and it would make more coverage possible of the matches. Whats your opinion on them? *almost didn't post topic due to laziness*

Re: Vuvuzela at the World Cup
I - personally - don't give a rats ass about them vuvuzelas. However, if it is causing a problem with communication and teams aren't playing to their best ability because of them, then I think they will be banned. When I was in South Africa 12 years ago I heard them and they are pretty loud, but I could tune them out so it didn't bother me so much. Strange, as the sound of a single baby crying and screaming on a crowded bus pisses me off sometimes. Oh you!

Re: Vuvuzela at the World Cup
I fucking hate them. It destroys any attempt at chants - It's just a constant drone. Sure, they're easy to ignore after a while, but they ruin a lot of the atmosphere.

Re: Vuvuzela at the World Cup
hehe good idea xD I was talking to my brother about it earlier and I said that a team should all just come out with vuvuzelas just stand in the middle of the field blowing on them or something until the crowd gets annoyed just to make a point.

I like that idea. But obviously, both teams would have to do it in order to make it work . . . .

Re: Vuvuzela at the World Cup
Surprisingly they don't really bother me that much. I found it funny when Patrick Evra blamed Frances poor performance on the vuvuzela though.

Re: Vuvuzela at the World Cup
Now that you said it... I'm not sure anymore if I still want Australia to have the WC in 2022...

Re: Vuvuzela at the World Cup
Good point. Australians ALWAYS bring didgeridoos to football games. Yes, everyone spends the entire match blowing on a didgeridoo. And that goes for rugby too because it's also referred to as "football" here.

Re: Vuvuzela at the World Cup
They do sound horrible en mass. It's like a swarm of insects has invaded the stadium. I'm glad I don't watch football, because just hearing it for a few seconds on the news is bad enough.

Tis alike unto a choir of angels, farting in mine fucking ear for 90 fucking minutes. I think I've got used to them actually. It's like being punched in the face so much that you no longer feel any pain.

Re: Vuvuzela at the World Cup
That sound is nothing less than torture! I can't understand why FIFA allows it. It's not like it's an important thing about their culture or something like that. At best the instrument of terro has been around since the 1960's; it might be far newer. And a lot of people are badly affected by it. If I had loved soccer and bought tickets to that event, the entire experience would've been ruined for me. I probably couldn't have gone there because of that sonic weapon. No better word for it. Allegedly the word vuvu means "to make noise" in zulu and that's definitely what it is. Like having a damn swarm of bees just by my ear. After a few minutes of that terrible noise I can't think coherently, I get dizzy and disoriented.

I want to start a club where everybody in it goes to the next Twilight movie on opening night with vuvuzelas to incite some hardcore teeniebopper violence...
If only I had social and organizational skills.
