So I got to thinking, I do not really watch TV anymore. In the sense of I turn on the TV and watch a show on a specific channel. I find that if I like a show I watch it on Hulu and/or buy the DVDs and watch them. I do not know why I do this... I just do.

Anyone else do this?

i only watch it for hockey. for the last few years i watched discovery/national geographic/animal planet/history channels wayyy too much. i've pretty much seen everything they show on those channels besides the most recent stuff, so i kinda stopped watching em.

as for actual tv shows i don't watch anything that they show on tv here anyway (..except the joy of painting with bob ross ) so i just download what i want to watch.

I'm watching tv right now. Thats only coz I'm bored and I have a tv in my room and it's something to distract myself with. I'm not even interested in whats on (The Bill)
Its mainly a boredom thing for me, when I'm at my parents home I always have more stuff to do and hardly ever watch tv.

I only watch television when I'm going to sleep, eating lunch, or need some background noise(in my room). I don't wait for programs to come on, if something I like happens to be on just when I happen to be watching television, I'll watch it. The only show that I look for when I'm on the t.v. is Scrubs, besides that I just watch on-demand movies

Yeah I watch real live TV.
I often watch tv from the antenna because the digital local channels look better than they do through the analog satellite. And when I'm not home I use a VCR(That's a Video Cassette Recorder if you don't know ) to record shows.

Not much, but yeah. The BBC and Channel 4 are good for entertaining content

I watch some shows on the TV, itself, but I mostly watch TV shows on DVD. I either get them from the library, download them via uTorrent & burn them onto a DVD to watch on my DVD player, or I already have them.

Not really. My TV can stay switched off for days on end, I only watch it for specific programmes. I never understood how people can sit and watch it all day.

Haven't watched TV in years. Hell - I haven't even turned on a TV in years.

Three years ago, when I was without internet access for a year, all I used to watch was Late Night with Conan O' Brien and Family Guy which probably were the only shows worth watching.

These days, I watch everything on my computer. If I want to watch a series, I download one or two seasons of a show through Utorrent, FreeRapid, or Emule.

Mostly all I watch are films from my DVD collection. I still have about 100 unwatched DVDs which I haven't bothered watching.

I'd perhaps watch a series, but I wouldn't even know where to begin. I'd probably rather watch a documentary or something as I feel that the majority of TV shows are a waste of time.

I still use VCR's. I have so many movies on VHS tape, I feel it'd be a waste if I didn't keep at least one VCR around
to watch them if I'm ever in the mood.

As for the TV shows I watch, there aren't many. If I'm home and on my computer, the television's usually on.
If I'm not watching a Yankees game, it's mostly crap cable news channels or Food Network, but it's mostly
on for background noise. I used to love The Shield and The Sopranos, but those are long gone now.
Oh, I do love Kitchen Nightmares and Hell's Kitchen.

Sometimes there might be something of interest on TV, but most of the time I don't bother anymore.
Having said that, what with the World Cup afew days away, I might just contradict this statement by watching afew games on it for awhile.

I use my television for more noble pursuits -- like gaming. Sometimes I'll turn on Faux News to get in a few giggles at Glen Beck, though.
I do watch shows online, though.

All I do is watch TV. Seriously, I was thinking about it a while back, and figured I average 12 hours + of tv watching per day. Even when I'm doing other stuff like surfing the net the tv is always on in the backround. At this point I'm pretty sure I have some kind of addiction to it. There are so many channels, so many different things I want to watch, more than I could possibly watch in a day. Literally everyday I go through the same ritual of looking through the tv guide and trying to pick out all the things I want to watch for the day, it gets really tedious but at this point I actually feel quite distressed and uncomfortable with the possibility of missing out on shows that I watch.

I'm actually surprised so few of you watch television. I had imagined, what with all the free time shut-ins have, tv would be a major part of a recluse's life.

I don't watch much TV. Besides, my TV is in my bedroom. I'm often here in my second room where I have my laptop (no wlan).
So I only switch TV on when I'm about going to sleep or get up.

Also there is a lot of trash on TV nowadays, especially during daytime. Too much reality TV - I fucking hate these shows. And German TV is always dubbing every little thing, so I can't really enjoy a lot of US shows - better waiting for them on DVD with subtitles.

So I only watch the news or any big sport events. Good stuff are also easily to find during nighttime.

I haven't watched television for months. I usually just search for the show on my laptop and watch it on the internet.

Save for a few programs, all of national tv in italy is either complete trash, or politically-sponsored misinformation and scare tactics. I make a point of not watching it, especially the news.

I love internet tv. Where would my anime habit be without it? The problem is I don't trust it. Most of it's illegal or semilegal. That doesn't bother me but I'm not internet savy and it's not always easy to find also I worry about viruses. And of course at any time there could be some court decision that makes it even more difficult.
I know shows are going to be broadcast at a certain time(unless they're delayed by sports, don't get me started ) so I watch or record them.

Watching TV is like browsing the internet without AdBlock Plus and/or an ad-blocking host file installed on my computer - I just can't tolerate it. Now that I've become so accustomed to not being forced to endure fucking ads for products I'll never buy, I can no longer do it. Everything I watch is downloaded, and it's been this way for ages. It wouldn't make sense for me to turn on the TV anymore.

If you know where to download shows, you can find high-quality rips of anything you want within hours of the original air date (that's if it's a new show you're after).

I haven't watched TV since my mid-twenties. I much prefer surfing the internet or playing video games as forms of entertainment.

I only play video games and watch my local news, and maybe a few other things like Just for Laughs.
