Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
I've been watching more and more lately, as I've found it's one of the best ways to distract myself and relax.

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
The Walking Dead is one of the few things I actually bothered watching on the TV recently. It also reminds me why I hate watching stuff on TV: adverts are really annoying and disrupt the flow.

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
Not really. Every time i try to find something on TV now a days, all i find are: Reality Tv shows, News stations with no real news, dunb/ugly looking cartoons, shows about cooking food and eating it and crappy sitcoms. (there was an action/drama show my dad tried to get me into, but it was the same as 7 other action shows on tv which bothered me) Its only my opinion, but TV has become useless to me now.

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
In regard to what I read here it seems the same for most country's programs and can't actually help myself, but feel reminded of the "Welcome to the NHK" conspiracy theory. According to my opinion everything seems to grow into the direction of comforting everyone in front of the screen and attempting to give them the fragile illusion that everything is alright out there (except for empathizing "news about tragedies"). I'm not saying that this has by default to be a bad thing and once upon a time I enjoyed this too, but I grew weary over trying to "filter" the 1 or 2 interesting statements considered so out of 15 minutes of "news". As for myself, I prefer to stick to RSS-Feeds from different sources, comparing the given information, modeling my own opinion. I second that.

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
The only show I actually look forward to watching is "Whose line is it anyway?". That show always puts me in a good mood. Other than that I just turn it on for the background noise. Makes things a bit less lonely.

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
I don't watch TV at all, maybe like 30min-1h per week. It's easier and more fun to watch series, animes, streams, documentarys etc. online, whenever I want and without comercials. Sometimes I wonder if it was really worth it buying an expensive TV.

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
...I do not watch TV at all. The amount of propaganda, the social conditioning and mindless garbage gossip entertainment infuriates me. I end up critically analyzing every single detail of either the show or the commercials. Wanna see me go from quiet to raging? ...just flip on a TV.

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
When i do that (sometimes do, i don't see TV either) in a certain way it is freaking hilarious for me, i guess it's partly "so bad it's good" and just comically pointing out the obvious or big logical flaws (or any flaws frankly) in the program, i also blame TV Tropes .

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
Very little. Only maybe nature programs or other documents sometimes (1 hour/week or less). I don't care for TV shows, and with channels that have advertisements, it's very noisy... music changing constantly, things like that. I get nervous about it.

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
I don't watch TV, and as a result I don't own one. To be more precise, I almost despise it. Try not to watch TV for several years, then sit down in front of one and watch - you'll either freak out or laugh your a... off. I don't want role models in TV shows or advertisement to show me how I should or should not be. I couldn't care less about popular music and similar stuff. Furthermore, I find many TV shows violent and humiliating towards the people involved - they seem to feed a really low pitiful need of an audience interested in feeling a little bit better themselves by watching other people's misery. Lately I've become somewhat suspicious about the perspectives prominent in the news, too. The problem with TV is that it's purely passive. The Internet is different in this respect: Apart from the obvious advantage that one can actively search for any kind of information that he or she is currently interested in, one can research topics thoroughly and find and choose from a lot of information from various perspectives. The Internet brings with it different problems though: If a person is drawn towards radical ideas, it's easy to find enough feedback and gain the feeling of being right. There are a lot of crazy people out there after all.

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
TV has sucked since "reality" came along. Basic cable is a wasteland and network is not much better. Most of the really good shows are on pay channels and have 12 episode seasons. I'm not gonna pay for a channel to watch one damn show for three months. But there are still some things I want to watch and because of the fucking feds streaming is a bitch so yes, I still watch some tv.

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
I forgot how annoying adverts were, although I might have simply lost tolerance for them now that I'm no longer used to them any more. There's a sort of depressing reality in adverts which only serves to remind how crummy life can be, really. And the news, I just feel like it's a bunch of stuff which I should be concerned about but don't really give a fuck over really. Maybe if I had friends I'd make more of a concerted effort to care. That way whenever I saw somebody I recognised I could talk about the state of country, the suffering or the lack of humanity going on. At the very least I could pretend to care about football by parroting a few sentences I'd heard from the sports caster guy. I think I'd probably like the news better if it made for more entertaining telly. Like, if something really dramatic was going on.

I like watching my documentaries, so yes. Unfortunately, I don't know a way to watch them online, so I've been pitifully left out of my favorite shows...

Re: Do You Actually Watch TV?
I'll admit TV has gotten worse over the years. I miss the days of LOST and 24 and the early day of shows like Smallville and Supernatural. I still watch TV though, but I can't stand those stupid ass annoying commercials, so I download all my TV shows. I started really getting sick of TV though and ended up dropping a lot of TV shows I use to watch. Now I just follow the few good ones on TV and mostly just watch anime since it's better than most of today's TV shows.
