Yeah, yeah, I know a lot of people hate FF, but all of you can go suck a dick. =D

I'm going to play the winner of this thread in Spanish, non-stop until I beat it.

As for my favorite, it's 12. I have a malfunctioning controller stuck on vibrate that I sat on thoughout the whole game, just watching Fran's glorious pixelated booty.

I like you.

12 was great, I had fun with it. 9 is my favorite though, but also happened to be the first one I played.

Final Fantasy V. Four is also okay. I also tried I and VI but didn't like them. Watched LPs of most of the rest but didn't feel the urge to play those. The newer ones have too many cutscenes for my tastes.

Eh, FFXII didn't have the stupid fagpot lovestory the other ones seem to, had a quick, fluid battle system, had a beautiful, expansive, non-linear world, and awesome voice acting for once. The story wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't horrible either. Also, Ivalice. And Viera.

Tidus and the voice acting made me hate X.

9 is also the first FF l played :smile2 l was struggling whether to put that one down or 10 and l finally went with 10 just 'cause l liked the story a little bit more. Just a little.

6 will forever be king.

The wiki doesn't have nothing on it, but that bastard dirt dragon could cast "fallen" on your whole party, lowering everyone's hp to 1.

Kuvo did an AMAZING LP of FFX. It was absolutely hilarious. The guys who played really sucked at it, but that just made it even funnier. It's up there on the lp archive website. Everyone should do themselves a favor and watch that right now.

I also love Spoony's reviews of the FF games.

Heh...they named Shiva, "Snowjob."

X was amazing. It's one of the few games that I have almost no complaints on. Everything was put together very well. The only complaint that I can think of is that the European version that was released some months following the US release was much more fine tuned, and the EU version was never released in the states(the only difference in the FFX EU version is that it has a LOT of extra side bosses that you can fight after you beat the game/max out all of your characters to keep the game interesting). I've maxed out my characters and had to stop playing because the game just became way too easy...granted this was after almost 200 hours of game play. I've got way too much time on my hands >.>

The fact that 12 was set in Ivalice is what made me love it. I love that setting. And Viera.

Riiiiight. Damn. l was so close to wiping his crappy voice acting from my mind. He was so mundane, it hurt to hear him. l had to do my own voice acting just 'cause l liked the sound of my voice more.

Post Re: Favorite Final Fantasy?
Final Fantasy V, which was initially only released in Japan, is the best Final Fantasy game I've played. I enjoyed it so much that, back a couple Summers ago, in a mere three days, I'd dedicated about 40 hours playing it. I became hooked and wasn't surprised to learn that lots of hardcore Final Fantasy enthusiasts claim it to be their favorite title of the series.

Image

How much do I like it? Well, despite it having worse graphics than Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger, I enjoyed it more than both those titles.

I encourage all of you Final Fantasy fans to play the translated original Japanese SNES version of Final Fantasy V via emulator (preferably ZSNES) - you'll be blown away. They re-released it for a few hand-held systems a few years ago, but made changes to the game which is a total bummer. They shouldn't tinker around with classic games.

After Final Fantasy V, I'd say VII is my favorite. I played it right when it came out in 1997 and could see how groundbreaking it was. I'd already started playing Final Fantasy when it still had its cult status (started playing it around the time Final Fantasy IV/Mystic Quest came out) and when I played VII, I couldn't believe how the game had evolved so much, so quickly. It was funny to hear everyone talking about Final Fantasy. It'd entered the mainstream after I'd been enjoying it and acknowledged its existence since I was six years old.

Image

The last Final Fantasy game I played was Final Fantasy IX which I was throughly impressed with. I couldn't believe how it was stripped of the futurism seen in VII and VIII.

Image

Anyway, so yeah... my favorite would have to be V, which, incidentally, happens to not be a poll option... :(

@Chair - when I was 13-14 I went on ebay and bought Final Fantasy: Anthology, which is FFV and FFVI put together. I forgot how much I payed for it, wasn't much, but I completely forgot about it after I placed the order. Two months go by and I finally realize that the asshole I bought it off of never sent it to me...

After hearing how great you said FFV is I'm kind of mad I never got it now >:|

12 is my favourite. I like the characters and the setting, most of the bosses are amazing too. I also like how the side content is available from the start, rather than being pushed onto you right at the end when all you have left otherwise to do is smite the final boss. There are a few negatives though. Summons are the worst joke they've been in any FF game and the conditions to trigger their super attacks are too specific. Quickening's look cool but can be a bit time consuming when you chain combo 20+. Alot of the license board is redundant, and everyone gets maxed out on everything long before you finish the game. Which leaves no diversity between characters in battle.

X-2 is probably my favourite based on battle system alone, I thought it was a refreshing change of pace too tone wise. Yet, the way it's broken up into chapters which, if you want to get full completion, requires you visit all those old spira locations that you've already seen enough of in Final Fantasy X is a bit of a downer for me. Especially seeing as it's not once but many times. XIII has a great battle system, but it was let down by not having many great optional bosses. The hunt side missions were too full of recycled enemies. Flying bird thing with unpronouncable name number 3, for example. Also, monsters which heavily encourage tactics based on luck and retrying rather than finesse.

8 is my favorite by far, because of the story and characters.

9 is my least favorite, 'cause I can't enjoy an RPG if I hate the main character.

VII is timeless but that's a given. Epic storyline.

Tactics is the best RPG of its kind. Endless customization.

X is the best modern FF despite the linearity. Cinematic brilliance.

But... my vote has to go to VII. I don't think a game like that could ever be made again.

For me it has to be X and X-2, best storyline and game play, especially in X-2 with the sphere grids. Although I can't say for sure, ive only played 7, 9, 10 and 10-2

IV-VI. SNES-era games are almost always my favorite.

IV was amazing for me for personal reasons. I love when Cecil becomes a paladin. And, of course... YOU SPOONY BARD!!

V had a fucking fantastic job system. So perfect. The music rocked ass, too. My ultimate setup was... let's see if I can remember... Samurai, Hunter, Chemist, and... I want to say, like, Dragoon, but I'm not sure. Possibly some type of mage. I loved Geomancer, but I know it wasn't that. It's been so long... Gonna have to play it again!

VI had the ultimate FF villain. Kefka kicks Sephiroth's ass to hell and back. He was power-hungry, selfish, and totally insane.
I really love the scene on the floating continent where he reveals himself to the emperor and kills him. Epic.
The characters and music were once again awesome. Terra's Theme is one of my favorite songs of all time. It has been set as my alarm on my cell phone for years. I love the phantom train. I love Cyan's story of his personal struggles. I love Setzer and his gambling ways. I love it all!!!

LONG LIVE THE SNES!!!

VI for me. :grin I'm definitely more of a fan of the SNES games than the PS ones. Tactics is my second choice though just because of its customization and story.

Final Fantasy VII
The first one I ever played and the one I'm most biased towards. VI and VIII are pretty close though.
