 What's your favourite instrumental?
Metallica's Orion for me.

 Re: What's your favourite instrumental?
Orion for me as well!
Blue Train is a close second though (Ascent, also by Coltrane, would be third):

 Re: What's your favourite instrumental?
Orion actually used to be my favorite instrumental. Wouldn't consider it as being my favorite anymore as I'm not very fond of metal, but it's still a great track - one of Metallica's best songs IMO.
Anyway, I'll post this:
It's a Philip Glass piece from the film Koyaanisqatsi.

 Re: What's your favourite instrumental?
I used to always listen to Orion but I think Call of Ktulu is my favorite instrumental by them. It's the song that got me into guitar and it's the first song I learned on one.
Although it has vocals (the studio version only has a small whispered line with screams), Careful with that Axe Eugene is one of my favorite jams and the darkish and ominous atmosphere is always a plus.

Maybe not my all time favourite, but this what I'm learning just now. Those full bends with tremolo are hard to get right.

 Re: What's your favourite instrumental?
Since some of you mentioned Orion by Metallica, I figured I'd post another great Metallica instrumental: I used to listen to it while working out. Does anyone know what instrumental it is?

I'd pick Bear McCreary & the Trans Siberian Orchestra, but I can't pick just one song from either. They both have so many great ones.

He may not be famous, but I enjoy all of the videos that kylelandry puts out(covers and originals).
Here's a cover of The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess trailer theme.

This might not be my favourite, but it's up there The 33 second change is immense. and it makes me air-piano like a mutha. You won't regret a listen.

 Re: What's your favourite instrumental?
Lalo Schifrin is one of my favourite film score composers. Joe Hisaishi is another favourite of mine. Nausicaa is such a great film and the film score is just lovely. I get abit teary everytime I hear this. I'm such a pussy.

Joe Hisaishi is amazing. I love everything that guy does. I've been listening to him all day while studying.
