Some of their best-known tracks are my least favorite. I'm like this with lots of bands/artists.

So all of these songs Chair? These are my favorite, mostly for nostalgic reasons though. My dad used to play the beatles a lot when I was a kid and these are the songs I remember the most.

I think some people would consider the Beatles as being a singles band (well, when it comes to anything before "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band"), but lots of their non-singles are way better than their chart-topping songs.

ivory pomegranate - why do you think george was the best beatle? he may be all spiritually cool and lack a huge ego but in terms of songwriting with the beatles i don't see how he even compares with john or paul (at least until my sweet lord which is probably favourite post-beatle solo album. hard to decide with john's plastic ono band)


how does one dislike the beatles? i mean, at one point i was like meh the beatles are alright but everyone likes em they're overrated. there are so many other overlooked bands from the era and sometimes people just like to wear their beatles blinders but it doesnt change the fact the beatles were pretty darn awesome

Well, I probably shouldn't be taken seriously on this subject because I don't know that much about the Beatles, at least compared to many of their contemporaries. I was just always impressed by George Harrison's song writing. They didn't record many songs that he wrote, but his stuff always stood out as more sincere. And he definitely seemed to have less of an ego. John and Paul come across as egomaniacs in the old footage I've seen of them, which is off-putting (maybe I wouldn't care if I was more impressed by their music.) I also used to think George was the best-looking . . . until I found out that my dad used to look like him.
