 Money
How do you handle your money, do you keep it in a bank, what do you do with it?
Money is a bit of a confusing issue for me. I have a bank account that my mum set up for me, but being the recluse that I am I can't go to the bank and access my account to see exactly how much is in there, or withdraw money. I do have a debit card for that account though. Apparently you can create a online account with the bank to view and handle your money online, which would be ideal for me, but to do so you need a security code, and for some reason I can't seem to get one. I also have an account set up in my name which money from a disability allowance goes into. Recently I've found out that my parents have been taking money from that account, which seems more than shady to me, but again, I have no control over that money, even though the account is in my name.
It's quite frustrating. I also have a stash of money in my room which I keep there just because I like to know it's mine, it's in my control, and that nobody can touch it.

 Re: Your Moneyz
Well my mum asked for a security code, they said it's supposed to be sent in the mail. She asked about 6 months ago, and she's asked again since. I keep asking her about it but she say's there's nothing more she can do. Also I feel I should clarify, the account that I have a debit card for nobody else can get into, not even my mum. As far as I'm aware... The account my dad is taking money from is for a disability allowance, she says it's for feeding me and such, which I guess is fair enough but I would have preferred if she had discussed it with me. Also the fact that the account is in my name... I was under the impression that money was for my future.

I work for my parents (outside jobs such as painting, building, and demoloshing) so I get most money in cash because I have nothing else to really buy besides food at the store. If I need clothes I may get them to put it on my paypal. I guess I need an actual bank account soon.

 Re: Your Moneyz
I don't have any money of my own, but I handle my moms money & have since she had a stroke when I was 19. Every month, her SSI (disability) check is automatically deposited into the bank account & I have the bills set up so that they all automatically debit the account each month to pay them. I used to constantly be late & have shut off notices, etc. because I would forget to pay them until I set them up that way around a year ago. It has made my life MUCH easier. But I still I often forget & end up paying the rent late because I have to send that to the landlord by check. Sometimes, we don't have stamps to mail the check & I'm too scared to go to the post office & get them, so it ends up being even later. He doesn't usually say anything though, because our rent is $550 & we only pay $68 of it & he gets the rest from Section 8 (an agency that helps low income people pay rent). The account is in both my moms & my name & we both have debit cards which deduct money directly from the account to pay for things. But I had to take hers from her because she buys stuff with it when we don't have any money & then makes the account get overdrawn & we are then charged bank fees, etc. I gave it back to her once, but she did the same thing again, so I had to take it again. To get actual cash, since my bank isn't near me, I use the debit card & get cash back from the grocery store down the street or from the ATM, but I try to avoid that because they charge us fees & we don't have much money to begin with.
I'm not very good at handling/budgeting the money, though. For years, I kept a balanced checkbook, but the bank still kep charging us fees & going overdrawn even though, according to my check register, we would still have money in the account. I got tired of it, so I just stopped keeping one. Now, I just guess at how much we have & use the online banking & phone banking system to see how much money we have left. We hardly ever get fees now that I'm not balancing the checkbook lol. Which is odd because it should be the other way around.

 Re: Your Moneyz
Bank account? I, uh, keep all my money (which isn't much) in my backpack. I know it's a bad idea, but I've stopped using wallets since I lost my last one at uni. We don't have any lost&found around here.

I don't have a bank account because I have a problem with my ID card. I also missed the payment I was supposed to recieve from the government because of that. All my savings are in cash.

 Re: Your Moneyz
I have also a own bank account but there are not much money on it. I also have a saving account with money I inherited from my grandmother. Both accounts will only be used in a case of emergency.
If I want to order something online I gotta ask my mom first if it's alright - everything is going over her account.

 Re: Your Moneyz
I keep most of my money in banks, and I rarely spend any. I've worked for two periods in my life so far once for 3 months and again for 5 months, and this has sustained me for the 5 years that I've been reclusive. I guess when I am depressed and never leaving the house, I have no occasion to spend money.

 Re: Your Moneyz
I've got no bank account. Only thing close to such a thing is my PayPal account, which is unverified but still works for whatever I need it for through online shopping. I keep all my money in my wallet and yes, it does get fat with all the bills inside it. Though I don't really get much of an income, (only get less than 200$ a month) I don't see a reason to get an account yet.

 Re: Your Moneyz
I use pocket lint as currency.
Actually, though, I got some cash in the bank, some lying around the house (I always find it in weird places), some in my mother's bank account in case of an emergency (like if a cat gets sick or needs a tooth cleaning), some invested in silver (which is doing pretty badly atm, but so goes the silver trade).

I have a bank account where I keep all of my money except $20 or so that I keep in cash in case I want to go out to eat. I'm extremely frugal and almost never spend money on anything other than necessities. But like I said, I do like to go out to eat.

I didn't even know that there was such a thing as a PayPal debit card. That could come in handy.

 Re: Your Moneyz
What's left from my 3 years of working is at my bank account(which i can control freely online and use my debit card with, paypal is linked to it too) while it lasts... but I'm rather awesome at spending lots of it easily. I only carry little cash since It's dirty, probably been in who-knows-how-many-ppl's hands and I could lose it... And what with all those annoying tiny coins >.< So I use the card whenever possible.

 Re: Your Moneyz
I have accounts set up with 2 banks. One with a semi-large amount of cash in it right now, and the other with a slowly dwindling amount of cash. I never got a credit card because I have a feeling it'll kill my soul if I get into heavy debt.
Money is just paper, or tiny pieces of metal, to me at least. I think life would be a lot easier without it.

I have a account and the only money I get is from my parents. I use it for buying things online. But I have no feeling for money, if I don't have money I just need to ask my mother for it.
