Post Re: Movies that had a Powerful Effect On You
Quite a list! I Confess i have probably only seen about 20% of them, though my curiousity got me googling them, and looks like there is some gems in there i need to see.
In order of rememberance.

(Note: Even though it seems like i cry at everything, it takes something special to bring out the tears)

- Gattaca
- The Last Unicorn
- The Green Mile (The first movie which i cried buckets)
- Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2nd movie i cried as much as Green Mile)
- Blade Runner (So began my love for rain and Science Fiction)
- Sword of the Stranger
- The persuit of happiness (Cried almost as much as Green Mile)
- A beautiful Mind
- The Last King of Scotland (I had to smoke 2 Cigarettes after the end of that movie)
- Donnie Darko (Instilled in me the first true meaning of loneliness)
- Memento
- Requiem for a Dream (Cant stand the overplayed theme music anymore)
- Notting Hill (My go to feel good movie)
- A Walk to Remember
- Black Rain
- Into the Wild
- Hackers
- Where God Left His Shoes
- What Dreams May Come
- Jack (The youngest i remember being so emotional over a film)
- The World According to Garp

And, Most 80's movies, i love 80's movies, The environments, the mood it sets, in such movies like Black Rain, Big trouble in little China, Rain man, Die Hard, Beverly Hills Cop, Caddyshack, and so on, really has a powerfull effect on me.

I'm sure i've forgotten some.

Post Re: Movies that had a Powerful Effect On You
The 2 movies that had the biggest impact on me would have to be Fight Club, and Edward Scissorhands.

With fight Club, I felt like someone had read my mind, examined my attitude, and made a movie about it. Both Tyler, and The Narrator spoke to me in so many ways (The insomnia, "You are not a unique snowflake." etc.) After It was over I wanted to be Tyler so badly, and his character actually did rub off on me a bit, (this ever happen with any of you?)

Edward Scissorhands I bought a few months ago because I had seen it when I was a kid but forgot what had happened, and because I liked some of the soundtrack. Unlike Fight Club this movie said more about my actual life than my mind. I really identified with Ed's Isolation, shyness, and awkwardness. This is also the first movie that ever made me cry (and boy did I cry). I really longed for the love and acceptance that Kim gave him.

Agreed.

In chronological order:

The Last Unicorn (I guess that's ok for a 6 year old child ;-)*
Watership Down
Ben Hur
The Matrix
American Beauty
Antz
21 grams
Memories of Matsuko
Revolutionary Road

*Though I have to admit that I still love it...

This film makes me cry to this day. I just can't help it when I hear the quote "For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home. "
