For the sake of staying on topic, here's one for you. An epic beard man:

Everyone I've come across online seems to hate New Jersey. I don't know anything of the place other than the fact that it has an extremely high crime rate, though I'm not sure if that applies to the entire state or just the city (isn't there both a city and a state called New Jersey? I could Google it, but screw it.)

Regarding the crime rate, it really depends on where you go.
There are some organized criminal elements, but we're right near NYC so I blame them.

I think we're known for being the butt of jokes because many only know
our state through the sights and smells they get from the NJ Turnpike.
I live in the suburbs in the northeastern part which is actually pretty nice.

This state also gets criticized for its high cost of living and for being the
most densely populated. We're among the highest taxed in the nation, but we're
also 2nd in the country in median income. If you live here long enough you get
used to the jokes and even start to embrace them.

To answer your question, there's a city called Jersey City here in the state of NJ.
