Like all other genres, good anime films can be really brilliant while the bad ones are just crap.

I enjoy certain kinds of anime and I think that entertainment from all over the world have the same amount potential. I usually look for anime series that revolve around a disorder or that has psychological themes.

I absolutely love anime. I'm not even as interested in video games anymore as I am watching anime.

I like it but I don't watch too much of it like some people might believe. Anime like Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece never caught my attention. Not due to all the hype and ratings, but because I go for things with a different story. Mystery, logic, and suspense are the kind that get my attention. Monster, for example.

But on other personal choices, I do go for adult humor and some that were meant for a younger audience depending on my mood. Mind you; subs did a better job of storytelling. As long as dubs don't affect the original script too much...

Anime is too long and it might start off not so bad but one thing can happen to where I dislike it. Either I'm really obsessed with a series or I just watch it to pass time.

Not much, but some of it. I like Hayao Miyazaki's movies: "Spirited Away" "Howl's Moving Castle" "Kiki's Delivery Service," etc.

People associate Japan too strongly with anime. I wouldn't doubt if most North Americans assume that every Japanese person is obsessed with anime. If a Japanese person would tell them that they don't care for it, they'd stare at them in awe just like an American would stare at me in awe when they'd find out that I don't say "aboot", hardly eat maple syrup, and don't say "eh" often.

I like anime, but like most other things, I definitely don't like it as a whole. Most of the time, I'd rather watch non-animated films as I'm a grown-up, and grown-ups aren't supposed to watch cartoons!

I'm kind of neutral towards it. I was thinking about watching more just to learn how to understand spoken japanese too, but maybe it's better to watch other japanese movies.

I like manga style video games more than anime.

I think anime is actually quite fun. While I'm no hardcore anime-otaku (I watch an hour of anime a week at most), I find it quite entertaining when I do watch it.

There's a few anime I do like, most I'm not that interested in. I like the art style though.

I like the darker psychological type animes. Most other types can't keep my interest.


The series Mushishi probably had the most intriguing art style out of all the animes i've seen, which isn't that many...

Half-Japanese here and I have never liked or been interested in anime.

The only Japanese animation that I have liked is Moomin. I previously thought that it is classified as anime, but apparently it's not. Or so I was told. So I'll call it a Japanese cartoon animation instead

I like when japanese artists take a western concept or theme and make an animated movie or video game. Like Moomin in the 90's or the Mysterious Cities of Gold in the 70's-80's. Peter Pan was also pretty good imo. At least for the youngest age group.

Yes, me too. Dark anime is the only kind I can stand, but that's usually the case with everything I read/watch. I wouldn't watch anime just because it's anime.

The Moomins was an excellent program. I absolutely adored it when I was younger but I never it considered anime. I think it might have been animated in Japan but that's as far as it goes.
I'm sure the original stories were Scandanavian but I'm not quite sure.

I do like anime but I like most types of animated styles if they are interesting and if I find them appealing.

I LOVE Anime! And I think it's the only thing that keeps me sane in this world. I prefer dark and pshycological animes like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Paranoia Agent, Death Note, Monster, and Welcome to the NHK. I also like those anime with deep storylines and real characters like FMA (I prefer the first series over Brotherhood), Eureka 7, Cowboy Bebop, Honey and Clover, Planetes, FMP, Baccano!, Durarara!, Code Geass, FLCL, Last Exile, RahXephon, and Xam'd. Not really into those epsiodic and "for kids" anime.

Really depends on the show. There are some that I love, there are many that I hate. I like stuff with plenty of action and "mindfuck" kinda themes or ones that simply make me smile - Umineko, Higurashi, Code Geass, Death Note, anything from Typemoon(Kara no Kyokai, Fate, Tsukihime), Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Black Lagoon, Mushishi, TT Gurren Lagann, Hunter X Hunter, The Slayers to name a few.
Hate all the empty "moe" stuff which is made with the sheer intention of creating cute little female characters that otaku can fantasize about marrying which appears to be more than half of the new animes.
Never ever watch dubbed anime, it's evil. Thanks to watching a lot I can understand quite a bit of spoken Japanese by now, it's such a beautiful language. Shame I still can't get myself to learn Kanji, else I could import my games straight from Japan.

Some shows, but lately I've been very out of the anime genre.

Love it. Love love love it! I've been watching anime before I even realized what it was and why it's style, storytelling, and presence differentiated from the other cartoons I would watch growing up. Like a few people mentioned, like so many other things anime comes in many different shades and touches on many different subject matters while falling into many different genres. Some of it can be hit or miss, some of it can be mentally insignificant and easily forgotten and then you have directors like Miyazaki and the late Satoshi Kon busting out these incredible stories that seriously drag you into the world you thought you were just observing at first. Feeeeeerrrrk, anime...it's kind of ineffable for me, there is just so much to touch on. I must say that people that claim not to like anime either haven't been introduced to GOOD anime or have been turned off or away by shite saturated in fan-service or perhaps the people that perpetuate certain stereotypes.
Gaaaaaaaaah! I've been attending[what I hear is] the biggest anime convention in America at least, Otakon for years now, and going every year it really is hard to place the feeling into words. It's just something you have to experience.


It's just interesting being surrounded by thousands upon thousands of people with, at the VERY least, ONE clearly established thing in common with everyone immediately around them...enough so to draw everyone from all walks of life to a three day convention.
You get this strange "THESE ARE MY PEOPLE" feeling. It feels nice.

I just...dont' get people that can write anime off entirely. I can't value their opinion so much, anime can vary in so many ways, it's like saying you don't like any books. Period. Just 'cause you happened upon a dry/boring one once. I really do think there may be an anime for everyone, whether they've found it yet or not is the issue. =B

Yeah, we talk about anime like it's a genre but it's lots of genres.
I do know people who claim to hate all books. And who won't watch any animation because they think it's for kids.
