Post Post songs you've written here.
I know we've got at least a couple songwriters on HC, so I thought it'd be cool to post recordings/videos of our songs here. I apologize if a thread like this already exists, but I didn't see it.

I suck at writing music, man. But I recorded some riffing and junk earlier.

Well, I already posted these on the "Pics" board, but it's easy enough to post them here too.

You could post the mp3 to a site like mediafire.com and then just copy and paste the URL you get into the MP3 tag on here.

Chair posts mp3's on a regular basis. He uses a music storage site that's designed to make embedding easy (it's kind of like YouTube for audio files, but with slightly different features, if you want to get specific). Anyway, I've checked out the site, and would recommend it, but I forgot its name.

Anyway, there are plenty of mp3 storage + embedding sites out there.

Thanks for the help guys. Will get round to it when I can. :)

FONEternal - any particular reason why it was recorded in the dark. XD

ivory pomegranate - thats some nice recordings you have, Motel and Reborn (it wasn't in the selection but I gave it a shot) were my favourites. Always hated recording acoustic guitars - either to boomy or twinkly. Have you any tips on recording them (mics, compression, location, etc)?

Kind of gutted that no one else has posted anything. I'll lower the bar to help things. :D

Well, I guess because I don't have something to record audio only, so I just use my camera. All I want is the audio and if I put the camera in the dark, the file size is smaller.

Ok, so here is a little keyboard composition I've been working on today.
I recorded it using a freeware music program called trakax. I hope you enjoy, it took me a few times to get it right when recording it hehe.

also, because of the way i recorded it, it only comes out the left speaker, at least for me
also.2 im not sure if the link will work, i followed foneeternals instructions with mediafire.
Here is the download link http://www.mediafire.com/file/ugyoyn2uziy/composition two v2.mp3

Thats really good XBlacky! :thumbsup
Was that a real piano, if so then it sounds excellent. I'm kind of jealous.
I can't seem to get that mp3 tag thing to work either.

FONEternal - thanks for clearing that up. I thought you recorded it that way for, I don't know, mood. XD

XBlacky, that was a great melody! I love short melodic lines that get repeated. Probably why I like video game music so much... When I write stuff, it is almost always rhythm. I think I'm meant to just play the guitar, not create stuff with it.

Ok here we go:

LINK 0:54
http://www.mediafire.com/?m2muw1jrzfy
A goofy little tune about Link from Legend Of Zelda. There are 10(!) overdubbed vocals on this. I'm on the left speaker (the crazy high pitched one) and the demented vocal at the end. All other vocals were done by my friend.

A OF T [live] 4:08
http://www.mediafire.com/?yzwwmm4ennm
I'm on drums for this one while my friend, D, is on guitar and 'singing'. XD At about 1:30 it's all improvised and all hell breaks loose. Was recorded on 4-track cassette. A fun day.
My drumming is not entirely in time in this.

Enjoy, erm, I think. :unsure

Now that is seriously CRUNCHY, I approve of it though, gives it a nice lo-fi charm.
The composition is really well played and sounds good XBlacky.
:thumbsup
What happened at the end? It was cut off abruptly.

I really should get back to recording stuff again but I keep trashing them, probably because they suck. :laugh

Post Re: Post songs you've written here.
Here are some doodles I made up awhile ago. I just don't do proper songs - way to complex for me. I played all the instruments for both the recordings. Why? Because no one else would want to. I also gave myself a snappy name for my solo musical output. Singing is absolute no-no for me by the way, it's always instrumental.
:laugh

The BLT Psychedelic Orchestra - Bleep Bloop

If you're wondering, thats actually a guitar and not a synth playing that riff. I loop stuff all the time so expect repetition. Played the wrong notes on the bass but it still turned out ok.

The BLT Psychedelic Orchestra - Kids Say No To Drugs

Haven't actually finished this yet but I'll probably leave it as it is. I'm playing my drum machine this time as opposed to programming. If you're into crapply played, warped calypso then give it a shot.

Well there's my own crap. Enjoy. Image

Had the settings on Private, which meant you could only listen/download them if I was logged in. It should work now that I've changed the settings.
Well it worked just now.

pretty cool songs, the 2nd one is really impressive, what software did you use to create it, how did you record it etc?

Post Re: Post songs you've written here.
Thanks for the compliments and giving them a listen XBlacky, really means alot. :thumbsup
I should have also stated that any song/tune by me that goes beyond 1:30, I consider it 'epic'. XD

As for recording details, I could go into extreme detail but I'll try to keep it brief. :unsure

BLEEP BLOOP
Used an ancient version of Cubasis software which I got rid of now - way too glitchy and annoying to record stuff. Used a very cheap Behringer DI box and soundcard for the recording the bass and guitar.
Bass/Guitar --> DI Box --> USB Soundcard --> Cubasis
Drum machine and FX were all done in Cubasis, used some free VST effects but I can't remember what they were.

KIDS SAY NO TO DRUGS
Recorded with Propellerhead Record for this (what I currently use now) and a Line 6 Toneport UX2(?) soundcard - don't use the Behringer soundcard anymore except as a backup.
Easier this time, Bass/Guitar --> Toneport --> Record. I also recorded with effects as opposed to adding them afterwards.
The drum machine was the same, into the Toneport. Had to run halfway across the room to play it everytime I hit record, which was annoying. XD
Put a Tape effect across the entire song which makes it sound alot nicer (less brittle sounding). Probably the best 'sounding' recording I've done.

Hope that clears up any questions, but feel free to ask any more. I'm a complete recording geek by the way. :laugh

EDIT: Shit, made a mistake. For Bleep Bloop, I had the Toneport already. Used the POD Farm software that came with it for any guitar amps/FX. It's what I used to make the guitar sound mangled.

I don't think you can hotlink from MediaFire Silentium.

You should try hosting your MP3s on BoxSTR.
