Since I don't listen to those kinds of lyrics, all this song tells me is that Jason Priestley broke up with Tom Cruise's wife and they are both wandering around miserably in badly filmed and cut scenes in an american small town while being 16 once in a lifetime when in reality they are 40.
The crappy Youtube slideshow ruins this a bit but I couldn't find another version which was decent quality. Listen with eyes closed.
