Re: Removing Timer for Editing Posts
I like the timer, and have seen it work well on other forums. It's a great way to make a flawless archive of every forum post without worrying about users editing their posts days, weeks, months, or years after posting.
You currently get 7 minutes to edit, but I may extend it to 10 or 15 minutes. I don't see why anyone would need more than 10 minutes to edit a post as the timer is mainly there to edit grammatical/spelling errors.
On other forums, I've seen users, for whatever reason, edit all their posts. This may not seem bad, but when you go back to a thread where someone has edited all their posts, it can cause confusion. At times, users edit their posts to hide bad things they've said/done as a way of covering up their tracks to prevent getting banned, which is something I wouldn't want users to do here.
If you want a post to be edited or deleted, PM a staff member with a request. But don't ask staff to delete/edit a lot of your posts - only one at a time, and don't expect them to always delete or edit your posts. Give them a reason to delete/edit your post.
The best thing to do is to ask yourself "will I regret posting this?" before you post something.
