Anybody familiar with Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole?
It's a fantasy movie about owls. Apparently it was a series of books first. Looks really interesting and I like that there are no humans in it.
But I just saw a movie alone and I really don't feel like seeing a "kids" movie alone so I guess I'll have to wait for video. :unsure

I want to buy the Criterion edition of the film House when it comes out so I can watch it again. I just heard of the film yesterday, and watched it last night. Damn, is it ever a cool movie.

Quote:
SYNOPSIS: How to describe Nobuhiko Obayashi’s indescribable 1977 movie House (Hausu)? As a psychedelic ghost tale? A stream-of-consciousness bedtime story? An episode of Scooby-Doo as directed by Mario Bava? Any of the above will do for this hallucinatory head trip about a schoolgirl who travels with six classmates to her ailing aunt’s creaky country home and comes face-to-face with evil spirits, a demonic house cat, a bloodthirsty piano, and other ghoulish visions, all realized by Obayashi via mattes, animation, and collage effects. Equally absurd and nightmarish, House might have been beamed to Earth from some other planet. Never before available on home video in the United States, it’s one of the most exciting cult discoveries in years.

it was pretty gory to watch and read as an anime/manga and I want to see what the movie will be like. It's coming out with part one in the beginning of the year and part two comes out in the end of the year.

I concur. I love how uniquely artfully tacky it is. Great movie. Although, I'm not quite sure what happened at the end; I'd been up for like 24 hours and was dozing off when I saw it - a few days ago. It's definitely one that I'd want in my physical-copy collection.

A splendid movie in my opinion. It is about a disturbed young man, Martin, who pretends, under the name of Georgie, to be mentally retarded in order to be near Susan, a girl he has become infatuated with. In covering his tracks he kills his stepfather and Susan's mother.

Tarantino's "Django: Unchained"! It's his take on spaghetti westerns but what he would like to consider a "southern". It takes place during or around the time of the Civil War when there were slave states. Apparently, my boi, Leo DiCaprio will have a turn as a brutal slave land owner that pits slaves against each other in deathmatches. Django, played by Jamie Foxx, tries to free his enslaved wife from the clutches of DiCaprio and inact his revenge!

I can't wait.

Martin Scorsese's Hugo, which is currently playing in theaters. Every once in a while I look at Martin Scorsese's filmography on IMDB to see if he's directed anything recently. I just checked his filmography on IMDB last night and it looks like he's finally directed a non-documentary film.

This doesn't sound at all like your typical Scorsese film: It's a 3D family film -- not a gritty gangster film lol. I was a tad skeptical at first, but lots of people are calling this the best film of the year:

Image

Quote:
"Hugo" concerns a 12-year-old orphan who lives in the walls of a Paris train station in 1930 and a mystery involving the boy, his late father and a robot.

Next year I want to see Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey:

Image

Quote:
Bilbo Baggins, a Hobbit, journeys to the Lonely Mountain accompanied by a group of dwarves to reclaim a treasure taken from them by the dragon Smaug.

Fei Tian Shen Zhou 11 - I think what this film is like, what the focus is on of space realism, or the ideology Chinese communism.

Might watch it tonight. Glad I was able to find a high-quality screener of it.

I wanna see Young Adult. Maybe I'd actually get myself together and go see it at the nearby theater. Fat chance of that happening. Any theater I've been to (which is not many) is fuckin gross. Plus, I would be lonely as shit. Argh.... guess I'll wait 'til it comes to TV.
But, yeah, it seems like it might be good. And it has Patton Oswalt. That dude's adorable and awesome. And Charlize Theron. Well, 'nuff said. :)
