 Your "miracle" drug
Have you found a "miracle drug" to treat your social anxiety? One that alters the way you feel in a definite positive way?
I've heard of people who had good results with meds, but most seem to not benefit much. I didn't benefit from Paxil or Prozac - they made me feel slightly numb, but weren't potent enough to combat my severe anxiety.
Thanks.

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
I'm prescribed a drug that makes me apathetic towards everything so it's far from a miracle drug. Video games do help as long as I'm not too frustrated or upset.

Dr. Pepper. When it's really getting to me, a swig of that helps keep the demons at bay.

No luck, the ones I've tried work most of the time, but when they don't work things are ugly.

I remember taking a view xanex from my sister and getting high from it in future shop looking for tvs with my parents. I was standing right by the tv salesman nodding at everything he said about tvs. I also remember blasting finntroll in the parking lot before that.

A bit of caffeine a day works wonders for me.

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
Only drugs that effectively remove my anxiety are benzodiazepines like alprazolam, lorazepam, diazepam and so on, as well as opioids. Not a cure but effective symptomatic relief. Probably also barbiturates, but who could try that? They let me do things I'd be too anxious to normally do. They are activating for me, make me get up and do something. Sometimes I believe they only have potential for dependancy because they actually once help more than placebo for a change. In the end, however, the best drug is irrelevant when no one prescribes it to you because of prejudiced dependancy paranoia. I'd consider a substance with the effectivity of diazepam, but without dependancy potential, tolerance, withdrawal or cognitive side effects a miracle drug. Such drugs are currently underway in clinical trials, but may take years to be released.. if they even get approved. http://www.neurotransmitter.net/newdrugs.html

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
My miracle drug was xanax, vicodin, and ritalin/concerta/adderall together. Until a healthy physical and mental dependence were formed so that you and drug become symbiotic

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
You know, I only did it once but crazy as salvia was I felt great for days after it but at the same time had no desire to touch it for a long time.
I think in moderation that substance has great medical potential. Only if researched though and used medically and properly.

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
I'm currently trying out Lexapro; it was the only thing a doctor would prescribe due to my age apparently. However, it's not doing crap for my anxiety. The only thing its done so far is made me lose weight, not that I'm complaining about that.

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
Hmmm, well my adderal gives me the motivation. However, it does not enable me to talk to people. I have had a small amount of success with Xanax, and surprisingly the most success with my percocet. IDK but I never feel afraid to talk to people and every thing just kinda flows. It is like my adderal, but without retaining the social blahhh.

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
I used to take Cipralex. Getting off them was one of the worst times of my life so I stay away from any meds alltogether. Sure they helped at first until I couldn't afford them anymore. Now its just exercise for myself since it helps me feel cleansed and takes my mind off of A LOT of things. I guess its the feeling of being really tired at the end of a routine that sets my mind at total ease.

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
I find cannabis really helps, I feel like when im high my thoughts are clear and all separate, rather than one big anxious mess. Dont take my word for it though, As weed can have very different effects on different people, I know of people who find that it makes them feel worse in social situations. Personally, I find it helps, but not very much.

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
I'm envious that it affects you like that (not really but you're lucky). I used to feel at peace with everything while high but now any mood I'm in will get amplified by a lot. Or it will change my mood to a negative one and amplify it.

Same. I guess this is why pot is classified, technically-speaking, as a psychedelic. However for me, no matter what my state of mind it always triggers panic.

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
In my opinion cannabis just amplify how someone is generally feeling, so not all the time it can be good

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
Xanax just gave me a little Euphoria. Adderall makes me a totally different person. It's amazing how well I can understand things, talk, and move around when I'm on Adderall. It's really great.

 Re: Your "miracle" drug
Marijuana makes it very easy for my thoughts to pour out where I would never speak otherwise. I mean, just things like remarking on the beauty of the lighting in a room, stuff that I would think was too silly to say out loud normally. It's nice. Sometimes though, especially if I'm outside, I can get really paranoid. I get paranoid about people watching me and start wondering what they're thinking of me, it's not a good time until I get home and become absorbed in something solitary.

Doing something, although I rarely do. When I do nothing I get very depressed, anxious and painful. I can't take pills because of heart problems, so there is no such thing as "miracle drug" for me.
