Do you or someone you know have Bipolar?

Does it affect their lives or your life?

Bipolar affects me. My mood can be happy one day, and sad the next. I am taking meds for it, but I still have my ups and down. Mostly downs...

I feel that I am hopeless at times and there is nothing that can be done about it.

What about you?

Not officially but I may have it and it needs to be diagnosed. I do get rapid moodswings but I don't want to lable myself with anything. It could also be an identity disorder but I'm not well educated about them.

I was diagnosed as having bipolar I disorder 2 1/2 years ago. I don't know why I was diagnosed with bipolar I, though. My moods have always been more on the depressive side. I also have moments of extreme rage & insomnia which the doctor attributes to mania. My social issues affect me far more than the bipolar does, though & it's really the least of my problems. But I am much better on mood stabilizers than off.

Yeah... may that explains why I feel like I no longer want to sleep or eat. :S I should seek help. I wonder if anyone will believe me and no Baker Act me.

Bipolar is one of the disorders I have. A psychiatrist also agreed I had bipolar tendencies.

I have Bipolar 1, it first showed up in 2002 when I was in hospital (not voluntarily) for 1 month. Had to go back to hospital (again, not my choice) for 3 months in 2004 and 4 months in 2005. Gave up my job in 2005 and haven't worked since. However have been pretty stable, if melancholic, since then and the mood stabiliser and anti-psychotic I take help a lot.
