When I lived alone what I did was sleep on the couch with my computer on a table next to me. It felt like I was sleeping with the world plus I had the back of the couch as comfort so I felt very secure... I sometimes miss sleeping on the couch... maybe I'll order a Dakimakura so I will be sandwiched again lol

I find that the best way to deal with it is to stay awake as long as possible until you're unable to stay awake any longer. Then i listen to music and day-dream myself to sleep. (By day-dream i mean a conscious fantasy rather than a legitimate dream)
A combination of one or two instruments always seems to have the biggest impact and i find that simple heartfelt melodies are far more effective than anything else. (At least in my opinion)

Maybe we can have kids and make them HC mods? :surprised

Breeding for the sole reason of becoming a lazy bastard... I like this idea! :smile2

This is the reason why I am scared of sleeping with a female. My hands will wander and try to lead to other things. Stupid libido, and ruining perfectly good cuddling.

I have a giant Jigglypuff pillow that I hug to sleep every night.
I always sleep alone and wake up alone, so I don't know if getting a pillow or soft stuffed thing to hug would help you!
But best of luck...

Anyone have any tips for getting used to sleeping alone?

I've spent most of my adult life sharing a bed with another person at night. Starting when I was 19, and now I'm 31.

When I wake up, I miss the feeling of someone embracing me, and I realize I'm alone and it comes as a depressing shock. I miss having someone to talk to first thing in the morning. I miss sharing coffee and easing into the day with another person. I guess just waking up with a guy's arm(s) around me, and saying "good morning" to each other is what it boils down to. Pretty simple, really.

Falling asleep alone is often easier than waking up alone. But if I'm having trouble falling asleep, sex really helps. I miss being able to say, "I'm having trouble falling asleep. Want to . . . ?" In fact, I sleep better in general when I have sex on a regular basis. But I know I can adjust to life without regular sex; no big deal.

I'm just sick of starting every day by waking up to the shocking realization that I'm alone. Completely alone.

And it's been quite a while since I actually shared a bed with a boyfriend every night. So I don't know how long it will be before waking up alone is no longer depressing.

I can't wait to get accustomed to sleeping alone. Starting each day with a moment of severe loneliness is no good.

I think part of my recent sleeping troubles have been down to this. I've slept alone for most of my life and before, it was already a lonely experience, but now that I know what the other side of the coin is like, it's even more depressing.

I've actually taken to having a hoodie with me in bed as a kind of comfort blanket. I even sniff it like a little kid (I used to do that with my teddy bear that I took around with me everywhere as a young child.) I think I'm reverting to childhood :hot It helps me though.

Sleeping alone isn't a big deal to me anymore. I don't even know if I could open up enough to feel comfortable sleeping next to someone these days. I can barely share a hotel room with anyone in my family. One night on the way to Mexico we slept at a hotel and there were only two beds for four people. Instead of sleeping in the same bed as my sister I chose to sleep on the floor with my Mario sweater.

It is surprising to me to see so many people saying that they have to do things to cope with sleeping alone. I freaking LOVE sleeping alone. It is so hard for me to get comfortable when I lie down already... another person being there makes it even tougher. I don't like to be touched when I sleep.

Simple, go to bed when you're far too exhausted to contemplate your own loneliness as you lie in bed. If you lose consciousness immediately, there's nothing to worry about!

And if you can't sleep, just cry.

Doof knows the score.

I hate sleeping alone actually. -_-

I've never been used to it. Even when I was little, I'd sleep with a stuffed animal.
Now I surround myself with way too many blankets and pillows.

I actually would have a difficult time sleeping with someone if I was in a relationship. I toss and turn a lot in my sleep and hog the entire bed, so I wouldn't feel comfortable if I had to share it with someone. I prefer to sleep alone.

I've been used to sleeping alone for a long time then I'd go see my gf and we'd fall asleep during the day or at night, but generally we never got to sleep together because her bed was waaay too fucking small so I ended up on the couch. I haven't slept in a bed for about 7 years or longer.

I don't think I could get used to sleeping with someone in my bed. I prefer to sleep alone. I wonder what that says about me.

I'm with you guys. I absolutely HATE even sharing room, far less bed with anyone.

It's seems to be proven that females are better off sleeping alone, while men aren't.

Family Guy commented on that point last week when Peter and Lois got separate beds so Peter wouldn't smash Lois and he ended up in a tiny bed with Quagmire because he needs someone to sleep with him ne...spoon? and it got a tad bit disturbing.
