This. Although my favority author would be Peter Hoeg. That is quite an unusal thought! I really enjoyed those too, although I recon it is pulp literature. It is amazing what she did with the series though, I never would have thought a video game possible to be made into a novel in the first place, but she even managed to improve the overall storyarc.

The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas. I love how all the plot elements introduced in the middle portion of the book are neatly wrapped into the ending, which makes the final pages especially satisfying.

Uncle John's Bathroom Reader series. I've learned so much useless knowledge from them and I enjoyed every bit of it. You don't need to read them in the bathroom! ........! [img. ]http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/bestsellers-2008/398-7.jpg[/img]

READ THEM. NOW. DROP EVERYTHING. Even though...the fifth one isn't going to come out for another decade...and you'll have an agonizing wait to see if...Cersei is going to...

Re: What would you say is your favorite book/series?
Another decade? George R.R. Martin is quite old and isn't in the best physical shape. You better hope that the next book will be finished in time.

Re: What would you say is your favorite book/series?
I don't have a favourite series but I really like everything by Yukio Mishima and Imre Kertész. I have read most of the Harry Potter books, but I'm not very enthusiastic about them anymore. They are probably the only "series" I have read.

Re: What would you say is your favorite book/series?
I LOVE the Sano Ichirôs cases by Laura Joh Rowland. This crime series play in feudal Japan around late 1690's. I love the protagonist, Sano Ichirô, and his arch-nemesis, Yanagisawa Yoshiyasu. And the Shogun, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, is hilarious with his stupidity. Can't wait for the next book being translated. I like reading crimes/thriller series. The books by PJ Tracy are awesome and I also can't wait for the next book. I once liked the Inspector Lynley series but the author has been starting to write thicker books with a lot of figures I can't remember them all, so I don't buy her books anymore. I also read Harry Potter, but I haven't still read the 7th volume yet. Guess I'm not in that mood anymore. The only fantasy series I would follow are the Discworld series. I have a lot of favorite BOOKS, which could change at any time, so it would be hard to list them all.

Re: What would you say is your favorite book/series?
I didn't post a favourite series. I would say my favourite series is Emile Zola's Les Rougon-Macquart line of works, related to each other because the principal characters derive from the same genealogy; specifically two splinters of the same family(The Rougons and the Macquarts). I love how he can go from pessimistic naturalism and scandal in a novel like 'The Kill,' and in the same series have a story like 'The Dream,' which is touching in its sentimentality and shows something of Zola's romanticism.
I haven't read very many of them yet but I intend to read more quite soon.
