Re: Your favorite live performance/s
I was going to post this in "Your favorite song at the moment" but decided to find a thread more befitting and I this would be it. So...
Okay, well, I'm not one to label things as 'favorite' on a whim. Since there is a vast amount of things out there to experience, it doesn't make much sense to me. So, it's a long time before I consider something to be a 'favorite'. And I don't like labels.
But, anyway.... what I wanted to share:
I'm really liking elements of "
Whirring", which I've heard come up on the radio enough times recently, and the name of which I just looked up. It's by
The Joy Formiddable, which I also didn't know until very recently when I saw them perform said song on Letterman the other day.
Do a lot of you know of them? I say I like 'elements' of it because I have to listen to a song several times, and in spurts (I like a variety (but I also have major preferences) and it's irritating listening to the same thing over and over (no matter how good it is) in a short time span) before I definitively decide I really like it.
I prefer watching/listening live so I can see and feel the level of a musician's passion and creativity, which influences how I feel/think about certain songs and the respective artists, and ultimately how much I relate to it.
For example, though the instrumentals are 'cool' and solid, I like the lyrics and the song 'feels' good, it's still not in the style I most prefer, but I can appreciate "
Whirring" more and will probably enjoy it more now since I saw how passionately they performed their music live. I also now want to see what their other songs are like whereas before it really didn't interest me.
And this one, well... it was pretty damn awesome! Apparently the lead singer's name is Ritzy Bryan. What a fabulous young woman, and band. So impressed.
"Whirring" The Joy Formiddable -- LettermanAdditionally...
One song/performance I'm absolutely in love with is
"Lippy Kids" by Elbow, on Fallon. This one was a few weeks ago. Omigod. It was entrancing. So intense, so beautiful -- unbelievably good!!
Another band that was recently quite impressive live:
Biffy Clyro performing
"Bubbles" and
"The Captain", featured on Last Call the other day. Oh, man. Niiice.
Are any of you aware of/fans of the bands just mentioned?
Opinions on these bands/performances?
