I need photo ID to attain something important, yet no longer have any.

I used to have a license, but tore it to shreds. There was no use in me keeping it when I wasn't planning on driving in the near future.

I have no clue how I'm going to acquire ID. This doesn't seem possible, considering my circumstances.

I feel like I'm shit out of luck.

All I've left to say is:

Birth certificate? Passport?

I also need that, but that's not a problem since I have those papers.

The photo ID is needed in addition to those other pieces of info - it's compulsory.

I'm not sure if there's an easy workaround to this.

Over here you can apply for a provisional driver's licence using your passport/birth certificate, but i'm not sure how that works in Canada. Worth a go?

Health card? That's what I use. My brother is in the same situation, and he has one of those old health cards with no picture. Sorry bureaucracy sucks Chair.

Before I got my license, I went to the closest public library and applied for a county ID card. I don't know if you've got a similar program up there..

Here in Aus they are really strict about it, most places wont let me use my university ID let alone a library card
has to be something thats hard to get like a passport or drivers license, firearm permit license...

But Canada is obviously different, so depends in how strict they are. Don't they give you a list of what you can use? like a points thing?

Clarifying that it isn't a library card, it's a county ID card, where I had to prove my residence.

Sorry porygon! I dont think we have an equivilent of that here in Aus, so I just thought you were talking about a general library card whoops.

In the US, you can get a state I.D., which is what I have, if you don't have a driver's license, but I don't think you have anything like that in Canada.

I have a similar problem, i need a countersigniture for my passport but due to my social isolation i have no one to do it, same with driving license. I came so close to suicide over it because it's like an emblem of my being locked in. I can't get valid ID in the country i've lived in all my life, i can't leave even if i want to. I don't exist anymore here, no one knows me.

In Ontario we have 'age of majority' cards that you can get from liquor stores if you bring them a copy of your birth certificate and twenty-five dollars. They're considered, by the government, to be a perfectly legitimate form of proof of age identification. I'd be surprised if they didn't have something similar in your province. . . Thank god for this. My health card isn't getting me into places like it used to.

I got this thing sorted out a week or two after creating this thread (about a year and a half ago now). I ended up renewing my license and used that as ID.

My sister actually told me about those age of majority cards. She got one of those at the Liquor Mart when she needed ID for, I believe, a passport. I forget why I never ended up just doing that rather than renewing my license . . . which I have very little use for.

Hmm that is always a challenge, proving you are who you say you are. Does Canada not have the process for getting a new identification documented?

Here in the United States, you could go to the DMV and get a government ID. It was basically like a drivers license except it didn't permit you to drive.
