 Re: New users thread
Hi, I'm 23 and I live in the Pacific NW. I dropped out of High-school right at the beginning of my junior year, got my G.E.D. and started college soon afterwords, but six months later I had quit, and that is pretty much where I have been since. I found this site through wikipedia, but I was a lurker on HF for a while.

 Re: New users thread
Hi, everyone. I've not been much of a forum poster in the past, more of a reader, but I found this place caught my interest. I've always had a fascination with the hikikomori of Japan and read/watched plenty on the subject. Myself, I'm not a complete hiki, as others seemed to have stated as well. I am 23 years old, have graduated college.. I studied math, and I'm currently living what you could call a NEET lifestyle, I suppose. I do have aspirations, however, in the environmental/green movement. I didn't speak to that many people while in school. If anyone, it was usually my professors, who I seemed to connect with better than the other students. I never attended social functions. Only class, then back home. I have had a solid group of 2-3 good friends for the past few years who I spend time with on occasion. Typically on the weekends. None of us are extremely social beings. If we go out, it is either the local bookstore or possibly out to eat. I am usually the one who ends up leaving early, however, because I will typically be overcome with sudden feelings of melancholia, and once I have arrived back home, I feel at peace, because I am alone once again and it is quiet. So, I guess I don't seem like much of a recluse.. But I feel I am one mentally, even with the outings I take part in. My mind is always most content when I am home alone. When I was younger, in middle and high school, I was very much a recluse both physically and mentally. I spent nearly all of my time outside of school at home in my room playing video games or wasting time online. As I've gotten older, I've pushed myself to become more social, but upon discovering the hiki phenomenon, I was inspired to connect more with what I feel is my true self. Why should I try to force myself to be more social if I am most comfortable avoiding it? My life's dream is to pursue a self-sustaining lifestyle centered around organic farming, as I am very moved by environmental concerns. But even in realizing such a dream, I feel I can safely maintain my reclusive nature. I joined this forum mainly to meet others who may be on the same part of the 'spectrum' as me. I felt apprehensive at first because I am not a total recluse, as I said before, but everyone seems quite friendly. So.. Hi.

 Re: Hi
I asked about that already, but I think that Estranged and Aphrodisiac want to keep that secret for privacy reasons. ' The only thing I can think of is 'The Big T*ts' Forum'? Maybe it's a Dolly Parton fan-forum....

 Re: Hi
Lol It's a forum where everyone is a bunch of jerks and we could never explain to them about our reclusive lifestyles without being ridiculed. I'm not even going by my usual username.

Welcome to the forums, Kat! I merged your thread with Xblacky's response, to this one, since this thread is meant for new members.

 Re: New users thread
Hey guys. I've been lurking on the hikki boards for a while and I like the feel of this one. It seems more active but that may just be me. Anyway, about me; I'm 27 and have been living as a hikki in So Cal for about 6+ years on and off. I rarely leave the house for anything more than a cigarette or to pick up another 1/8th of my medicine I'm this way for medical reasons I suppose but I've been unable to work for two years. Shitsux. I read a lot and watch far too much TV (who doesn't nowadays?) and occasionally play videogames. Umm... that's all I can think of, if you guys have any questions feel free to ask.

 Re: New users thread
Thank you for joining. It is always a pleasure to see that a new person has joined the site. I will be taking a small break from here (maybe a week or two break), but will be logging in maybe once or twice a day just to see how things are going. I'm sure that I'll eventually get to meet you. This forum has a mostly positive feel to it and is pretty much spam-proof, so there's not much to worry about during your stay here.
