Post Re: New users thread
Hi there, first post. I'm 20, male, live with the parents, and located in California in the United States. I really became a hiki after I finished high school. Life has been really depressing for the last 2 years and i had no idea what "hiki" is/was until I ran into the word while surfing the internet at 3 in the morning. But as I was reading about hiki culture, and what hikis do, it seemed to describe me more and more. Life is even more depressing because my dad is always comparing me to my already sucesfull brother and sister. It's an Asian thing. It doesn't help that he's always yelling at me for my condition, either. It's very hard for me to make friends but maybe I could start here and get to know some of you guys better. Thanks for reading.

Hi, I'm new here. I joined because I wanted to join a community with others like me. Nice to meet you all. I am still new to all the hiki stuff (I only recently found out that I am one) so please kindly inform me if I am incorrect about something. Thanks, and I hope to get to know all of you better. :bye

I'm sure that in time you will come to understand the term better. In the mean time, we will be happy to answer any questions you may have. You're already doing a good job of getting to know everyone by posting and joining the irc. :)

Welcome to Hikiculture, s2! :D

Hiyas.
I'm Banana-chan. My journal was friended over on LJ and I just thought "why the hell not?" So I registered. :] This seems like a nice place with nice people.

Post Re: New users; state your reason for joining this site
I got a friend request on last.fm from the HC account and decided to check it out. After I saw the sections on social anxiety and depression, I decided to join so maybe I can connect with people with the same difficulties. I'm going to school right now, so I have to leave the house; it doesn't, however, force me to interact much with classmates (which is pretty much limited to helping when someone needs help). I was going to a university about five hours away from my home, but I grew more and more reclusive and starting skipping and failing classes. Unfortunately, the pattern is beginning again here. Hopefully, I'll get to know you all better in the future.

Hello everyone,

My name is xander, Chair sent me an invite on last.fm. From the looks of it this seems to be the place for me. I was dx'd with Aspergers in 07' and suffer from social anxiety.

Was approached on last.fm. I declined the friend invite since I hate, really utterly hate, getting "friend" requests from people I don't know. Forums seemed interesting though, so I thought I'd join up. Maybe talking with other reclusive people will help me understand myself a bit better.

Moo. I am not really a hikikomori as such, but then on the other hand I am probably not what you'd call social either. My reason for joining is that I know the place through Dreaming, who is my little sister, and she has talked very nicely of the place. I happen to like forums, so I figured it could be interesting to partake in this one.
