Thanks for the info on the quote, and by the way, i just wanted to comment on just how incredibly true and sublime are all three of the quotes you put in this post, they really got me to see and consider new things i didn't before, they are truly masterful.

Shakespeare quotes from Timon of Athens that made me laugh:
Quote:
I am Misanthropos, and hate mankind.
For thy part, I do wish thou wert a dog.
That I might love thee something.

Quote:
ALCHIBIADES: Noble Timon, What friendship may I do thee?
TIMON: None but to maintain my opinion.
ALCHIBIADES: What is it Timon?
TIMON: Promise me friendship, but perform none. If thou wilt not promise, the gods plague thee, for thou art a man! If thou dost perform, confound thee, for thou art a man!

Agent Smith:"I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You're a plague and we are the cure. "

Then you can choose the most fitting method for his demise."

Voltaire

"I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."
Voltaire

"In general, the art of government consists of taking as much money as possible from one class of citizens to give to another."
Voltaire

The Agent Smith quote is my most favorite of all time.

Meaning: "Let them hate, so long as they fear."

I actually wear a dogtag with that written on it on a necklace...the font is in . My girlfriend had it custom made for me as a present. She thought the phrase epitomized my misanthropic tendencies, and I, likewise, embraced it as such. It has multiple personal meanings and interpritations to me....

Morihei Ueshiba wrote:
(Just to comment, he is the founder of Aikido)

I felt the universe suddenly quake, and that a golden spirit sprang up from the ground, veiled my body, and changed my body into a golden one. At the same time my body became light. I was able to understand the whispering of the birds, and was clearly aware of the mind of God, the creator of the universe.
At that moment I was enlightened: the source of Budo is God's love — the spirit of loving protection for all beings... Budo is not the felling of an opponent by force; nor is it a tool to lead the world to destruction with arms. True Budo is to accept the spirit of the universe, keep the peace of the world, correctly produce, protect and cultivate all beings in nature.

I am the Universe.

Aiki is not a technique to fight with or defeat an enemy. It is the way to reconcile the world and make human beings one family.

Aikido is Love.

The Way of the Warrior has been misunderstood. It is not a means to kill and destroy others. Those who seek to compete and better one another are making a terrible mistake. To smash, injure, or destroy is the worst thing a human being can do. The real Way of a Warrior is to prevent such slaughter — it is the Art of Peace, the power of love.

When facing the realm of life and death in the form of an enemy's sword, one must be firmly settled in mind and body, and not at all intimidated; without providing your opponent the slightest opening, control his mind in a flash and move where you will — straight, diagonally, or in any other appropriate direction.

Always imagine yourself on the battlefield under the fiercest attack; never forget this crucial element of training.

Be grateful even for hardship, setbacks, and bad people. Dealing with such obstacles is an essential part of training in the Art of Peace.

Foster peace in your own life and then apply the Art to all that you encounter.

One should be prepared to receive ninety-nine percent of an enemy's attack and stare death right in the face in order to illumine the Path.

In order to establish heaven on earth, we need a Budo that is pure in spirit, that is devoid of hatred and greed. It must follow natural principles and harmonize the material with the spiritual. Aikido means not to kill. Although nearly all creeds have a commandment against taking life, most of them justify killing for reason or another. In Aikido, however, we try to completely avoid killing, even the most evil person.

May the Kami of Earth and Heaven watch our acts of purification.

You know, i think Aikido is the only martial art that i truly admire. Hell, i think people can even fully disregard the martial part of it and just focus on the teachings (but i think if you practice the martial part then you definitively should focus on the philosophy as well, otherwise it would just be empty). Honestly when i read these quotes i think more of a philosopher or a saint instead of a warrior. I guess i find it divine just how polished and elevated is it's technique, but also (and i think because of it) the technique is just second to the philosophy.

Post Re: Favourite Quotes
You know Fraktale, you always have such great and englithening quotes... Congratulations and thank you! :thumbsup.

Don Quijote wrote:
"Know it, Sancho, that there is no memory that time doesn't end nor pain that death doesn't consume"

"(...) Well it seems -replied Don Quijote- that you're not very versed in this of thing of adventures; They are giants, and if you have fear, get out of the way and put in prayer in the time that i will enter with them in fierce and unequal battle"

"I make an oath to the creator of all the things and to the four saint gospels, where they are more greatly written, of making the life that made the grand Marquis of Mantua when he swore of avenging the death of his nephew Valdovinos, that was of not eating bread on the table, nor with his wife fornicate, and other things that, altough of them i don't remember, here i give as expressed, until taking entire revenge of whom such mess caused me.

lol
"Joyful age and joyful century that age which the ancients put the name of golden, and not because in it the gold, that in our age of iron so much is valued, was reached in that adventurous with no fatigue whatsoever, but because then those who in it lived ignored these two words of yours and mine (...) For which safety, going more the time and growing more the malice, was instituted the order of the Wandering Knights, to defend the damsels, to protect the widows and assist the orphans and the needy, from this orden am i, goatherd brethern, to whom i thank the entertainment and good welcoming that you do to me and my squire, that; Even tough by natural law are all who live obliged to favor the wandering knights, still, that by knowing that without you knowing this obligation you welcomed and gifted me, is reason that, with the will to me possible, i thank yours."

Altough i don't know if it's 100% percent correct, i think this monologue of his is the perfect "synopsis" for one of the most important aspects of Don Quijote :) :angel.

Translation done by me by the way :p.
