Post Living In Fictional Worlds
Daydreamers, surround here! Got a question for you! :)

What fictional world would you like to live in?

Every time when I'm reading a manga/book or watching anime/TV shows/movies I always like to imagine that I would live in their worlds.

If I'm reading Detective Conan I'm always wishing that I have turned into a child and could help Conan to hunt the Black Organisation. And I could go to the elementary school together with Conan's friends and enjoy their adventures together.

Or I could be a witness about Kira's fight against L/Near. Or the Hell Girl website really exists. Or... or... or...

I just love daydreaming about those kind of stuff.

What about you? :D

I tend to picture a lot of things in a cartoon form. Not usually anime, its usually a western style. I've always considered it weird, but it gave me something to laugh about. *person hit by a bus* lol

For real, you can make a room awkward when you start laughing for no reason.

It can be fun sometimes. Other times its just annoying.

I do pretty much the same thing. Also not unusual for me to go back to those daydreams when I am bored.

Darkd10: yep, that is true, lol. I am guilty of doing that as well.

Anyone else zoom off to book character's worlds? When I really get into a book, its more like watching a film than reading

I never thought about that before, but I do that all the time. I visualize everything, and it just all feels so epic.

This is why I play video games, especially RPGs. They're so much more immersive to me than books or movies. I actually haven't read a fictional book in probably 12-13 years...
I guess I'd choose to live in the world of Suikoden V, where I'm an immortal prince with a little sister (I've always wanted a little sister :'( ).

I'd want to live in the Touhou universe. ;-; Or maybe in the Higurashi universe; Hanyuu is delicious.

Occasionally.

I experienced it most strongly about 12-13 years ago when I was obsessed with B5. I daydreamed about being there, part of that universe and made up stories of how it went. Mostly just day dreams, but some I actually wrote down. They weren't very good, but they meant a lot to me back then.

I wouldn't mind living in 1943 and play some womens baseball and being a good ball player. I love those skirts they wore. I would play for the Rockford Peaches with Dottie and Kit.

Living in my own fictional world would be nice. Especially in the one I am writing about. Where Angels and other Supernatural beings (but Werewolves) are real. :) I made up an Angelic Planet called Zababylon. It would be nice to live there. :D

I wouldn't mind living in Anime Land. Especially Vampire Hunter D, Speed Grapher, Galaxy Railways, The Big-O, and 009-1. I would love to live in Trigun as well. :)

I wouldn't mind living in House M.D. as a doctor with Asperger's and that is crushing on House. :laugh

Yup, fiction sounds like fun right about now, but I gotta live for reality. :'(

i would like to live in Shambala, the land where full metal alchemist takes place. but most fictional worlds would be better than reality, i hate living in the real world. its like they said in the movie Watchmen, mankind needs an ultimate enemy to unite and not fight themselves. in a fictional world of my choice there would always be demons troubling or something like that so you have a chance to actualy be a hero n stuff like that. my perfect world would be very balanced in all things i guess

I'd love to live in Middle Earth. That's one of the main reasons I love playing The Lord of the Rings Online so much. I actually travelled from the Shire to Rivendell once. I walked the whole way :blush

I'd want to live in a world where I have a hikimate and two cats and I'm in a small apartment and I work from home as a graphic designer and my hikimate helps me with work and he does whatever like music or writing or something and we have an online comic we work on and it's pretty peaceful~ That's my dream future, but I imagine it all the time, my pillow being my hikimate. So I kind of just sit there and talk to my pillow and act like my room is my apartment. :drool

I would like to live either in a cyberpunk "post-apocalyptic-like" corporate fascist (think Shinra FFVII) world where I would be an agent or henchman of some sort (Turks FFVII again). Very much as if the Third Reich had been a corporate republic sort of thing. A mix between Shinra from FFVII and Britannia from Code Geass. I would be like the turks from FF or Jeremiah from Geass.

The second alternative world would be a fantasy manga universe which could be an equal mix of steampunk, high fantasy, elves and dwarves and wizards and alchemists etc... Suikoden/Zelda/Ys/FFIX in a perfect blend mixing the epicness and full-scale politics of Suikoden with the introverted intimacy of Zelda. I would be a rogue wizard of some sort who learned his magic intuitively and lived in a place like the village of outcasts from Zelda 3. I would also be immortal and look eternally as if I was 18-years old despite having lived for several hundred years. I would dress in very simple but well-tailored clothes in grey and brown shades, comfortable brown boots and a grey traveler's cloak.

I prefer to imagine my own fictional life within the current world, rather than changing everything else to suit me.

This way i find that day-dreaming becomes a far more fluid process, furthermore it lets me hang on to some semblance of hope that it might one day come true.

Whenever I daydream its usually about me being the hero, saving the girl, beating the bad guys, fighting for what's right etc. That's the kind of fantasy world I want to live in...one where I'm not a loser, but a winner...though a few swords, guns and big explosions wouldn't go amiss too. lol

I don't really imagine myself in other people's fictional world much. I guess it just seems silly to me to be in someone else's world.

It’s like that for me, too.

I get lost in books, movies, series, cartoons, comics, games, whatever that really captivate me. When I’m that into it, for a little second I feel confused when I’m interrupted, or when the texts start rolling or if I finish the book. A short-lived “huh?” moment before I ‘wake up’ in to the real world. Truly captivating stories take all my attention. I'm not even aware of turning the pages.

Another world I’d love to live in is the world of Pokémon. I have always loved animals and especially my pets, of course, and so travelling around with them, catching new ones and add to the party, seems like paradise to me. If it was real, I’d hate to see them fight, though.

BTW, I love this topic! :D

Post Re: Living In Fictional Worlds
I'll try to describe in what world I would want to live.

Imagine limitless cyberspace consisting of worlds. A world is a 3d space with specific rules. Some of them are just normal with ground, gravity, earth-like plants and creatures, others are not, with weird space twists (torus-like looped for simple example), weird buildings and other structures. Worlds are connected between each other via portals - simple, like "doors" with one side pointed towards one world and other - to another, teleportation spaces (including to another place of same world), etc. It could be just a set of circumstances to transfer things from one world to another.

The worlds are filled with matter like solid rock, etc and objects that consist with these simple materials like in our reality. There are also different energies, fields, plasmoids, etc.

Another main object type is "soul". It's immortal, indestructible and invisible being that have mind, memory, etc. and can think. In its simple state soul can float between worlds and possess unoccupied objects, this object will be a "body" for a soul. For example, if soul possess a human body, it gain control over its limbs, sense organs and inner systems, if soul possess a tree, it can control its growth and for example sense light from leaves. Soul can leave body when it wants to.

Within the some circumstances, soul can generate matter, create new portals and even spawn a new worlds or souls. It depends on soul characteristics, skills, possessed body and environment.

Some notes about soul psychology - it doesn't need to eat, cover from cold, spawn, etc. It have independent stimuluses like curiosity, wish for creation and some others. Body can have more demands depending of its structure, but can be fully fed by soul inner unquenchable source of energy.

It would be true paradise for souls wandering, trying different bodies, constructing things and social structures, etc.
