Insomnia: what is the longest you've been awake?
What is the longest amount of time you have been awake for? Simple question for the sleep deprived.
The longest I've been awake for is 3 days. It was during a really long week, and I was too busy to sleep. Sometimes there is just too little time in the day. I had A LOT of things on my mind, and wouldn't have been able to sleep if I tried.

About a week or two due to a medical thing. 2 or 3 days of my own volition.
With regular insomnia, I do sleep - just not enough, or not normally.

Re: Insomnia: what is the longest you've been awake?
I quite frequently stay up about 36hrs to put my sleep pattern back to normal when it slowly works its way out of time. I don't think I've stayed up for any major length of time time though

Never more than three days. I feel like losing my mind already on the second day. Not quite long but quite frequently

Re: Insomnia: what is the longest you've been awake?
One time I made it 3 and a half days... but I was under some serious stress about then and I kept having this odd feeling like if I went to sleep I'd never wake up, so I was almost scared to sleep... but that only happened ONCE... on the 4th day I crashed... hard... I slept for a full 24 hours.
Frequently, I'm up on a cycle of 2 days awake, 1 really long night sleep, 2 days awake...
Luckily lately I've been able to put myself into a "normal" sleep schedule, meaning I get about 8 hours of sleep, but that starts anywhere from 9PM to 5AM... not sure when I will get to sleep, but I will sooner or later... lol

2 or 3 days. I can't remember. I've done it a couple times mostly just out of complete boredom and isolation. Also while I was depressed I probably stayed up for longer, it was bad.

I remember I've been awake for 3 days, but I might have stayed awake for a longer amount of time when I was younger. My insomnia was much worse when I was a kid, but I don't really remember.

Almost 48 hours. I had fucking toothaches keeping me awake. I gave up bearing this and went to my archrival alltime to get "killed".

Less than 2 days. I don't know how some of you managed 3. I would've been experiencing full-blown hallucinations by that point.

Same. I hallucinate after a day and a half. My brain starts feeling acidic and then the pretty fractal pandas come to take me away.

Re: Insomnia: what is the longest you've been awake?
I'd say 4-5 days. I regularly go a good 2 days without sleep whenever I can(which is really never these days, thanks to a parent that cares too much), if only because I love the night so much I couldn't bear sleeping during the night hours.
And by the time the sun rises it seems to kick-start me into being awake. I went that 4-5 days without sleeping from a mixture of that cycle, a really big muse, and getting really, really lonely.
EDIT: By the 4th day I started hallucinating, not visually but I would constantly feel touches on my arms and face.

No more than 2 days. Hallucinations scare me I tend to spend 20 hours awake, followed by 12 hours of sleep, I'd be better off if there were 32 hours in a day

Re: Insomnia: what is the longest you've been awake?
About 5 days when I had benzodiazepine withdrawal. After about three days without any sleep I started having hallucinations, paranoia, extreme emotional outbursts, and feelings of dissociation / unreality. Even after the insomnia went away I felt very un-normal for at least two months. I won't take benzos again. Stopping abruptly like I did was pretty dangerous.
Naturally I've only gone about 36-48 hours without sleep. Staying awake beyond 48 hours is pretty hard without something being very messed up chemically within the brain.

Re: Insomnia: what is the longest you've been awake?
+1 I do this almost every time I'm awake. But the longest i've ever stayed up was... oh... maybe 4 days? After that I get to a point where my eyes just close on their own.

Re: Insomnia: what is the longest you've been awake?
It's been since about Saturday, and this has been my longest. Right now, I feel like I close my eyes, and then open them out of necessity, and 5 minutes have gone by, when it really just feels like 10 seconds.
I don't even know why I'm staying awake, really. I feel a little frightened right now. Not hallucinating.

Re: Insomnia: what is the longest you've been awake?
2 days perhaps? l don't have a problem of not sleeping. My problem is that l can't sleep enough and l usually wake up in between sleep cycles. l toss and turn for hours, then finally nod off only to have myself wake up a couple of times throughout the night lt's really annoying. My doctor has given me some pills to help me sleep and it's working for the most part. l'm just scared l can't sleep without them now. Midnightlight: Have you tried taking naps in the daylight? That may help. Oh oh oh! Hugging a doll of pillow at night is comforting.

Re: Insomnia: what is the longest you've been awake?
The longest I've stayed awake was probably from early one Saturday morning to late the following Sunday night. So almost 48 hours. I took a hallucinogenic drug that Saturday night and I had a bad trip and got so paranoid of the government that I could not sleep at all. When I came down, I realized I had scribbled a bunch of nearly illegible messages to myself in a notepad about how they were coming to get me and instructions for how to hide. Weird as fuck.

Re: Insomnia: what is the longest you've been awake?
Hah, got any tips to share? Prolly less than 48 hours for me. I hallucinate (sleep paralysis, usually) even without staying up that long. I usually hear things whispering or barking in my ear, or feel "demons" latching onto my back. When I used to work long shifts, I would see disembodied limbs, or I'd have conversations with co-workers that weren't actually there.
